Our Story
In 1990 a group of Indian Head-area farmers, along with researchers from the Indian Head Research Farm, gathered together to discuss areas of cooperation in the agricultural research field. The group recognized the great opportunities offered by the close proximity of the farm and felt it was critical that research stay focused on the practical relevance of new technologies.
In order to strengthen this alliance, the farmers formed a group to become known as the Indian Head Agricultural Research Foundation (IHARF). Since then, IHARF has grown to become an organization with hundreds of members across the Canadian prairies and northern US.
Our Mission
The mission of the Indian Head Agricultural Research Foundation is to promote profitable and sustainable agriculture by facilitating research and technology transfer activities for the benefit of its members and the agricultural community at large.
Our Vision
To be a centre of excellence in developing and providing knowledge to drive an economically and environmentally sustainable agriculture industry based on science and results in Saskatchewan.
Our Mandate
The IHARF Mandate is to:
- Identify new research priorities required to meet the needs of agriculture now and in the future
- Conduct and support public good research; research that has value to the agricultural community
- Maintain strategic alliances with the agricultural community in order to strengthen the provincial research base
- Play an active role in the technology transfer process and be involved in public education and awareness activities
- Maintain a scientific research base at the Indian Head Research Farm
